Delores Airey

A dedicated writer

Delores Airey was born in Paddington, London to Jamaican parents, Hensley and Evelyn Airey. Her retired father owned and operated a 24 hour grocery store business back in the 1970’s in Kilburn, North West London and, debatably, pioneered the innovative 24 hour grocery shopping trend practiced in the UK today.

For as long as she can remember, Delores has always wanted to write a book. One evening in 2005, returning home from work, bored, lazing around doing nothing worthy with her time, Delores commenced writing her book on an old laptop. She spent 2 years creating, Out Of Her League, writing during the early hours of the morning, late nights and most of her weekends, whilst working full time, until final completion of her manuscript. After a number of rejections, she decided to self-publish her debut novel.

Enjoying English lessons at school, Delores soon developed an interest in writing. On finishing school, with a keenness to earn, Delores opted for employment in the commercial world, taking up a junior secretarial position in the Chairman’s office of a global bank. She’s remained in the industry for over 20 years.

Delores owns a wide selection of books on various genres. Reading contemporary novels is one of her favourite pastimes. Always up for a challenge, Delores has always welcomed the opportunity to try her hand at book reviewing seizing the opportunity in October 2007 interviewing authors and reviewing one book per week on a wide selection of genres for a reputable book reviewing company based in the US.

Out Of Her League was published in June 2007. The sequel, In Too Deep, is due to be completed during the Autumn of 2008.

Some of Delores's interests

Independent, Delores enjoys her own company and regularly travels alone overseas. In recent years, some of the places she’s visited and enjoyed taking part in daring and adventurous pursuits were Dubai, Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil and Japan. She’s hopped around the Hawaiian Islands of Maui, Oahu, Kauai, and walked through the 600 foot lava tube on Hawaii’s volcanic Big Island. Unable to find her group, lost and stranded at the top of the rim of the crater on Haleakala Mountain in Maui, Delores remained calm and managed to find her way back to base – luckily!!!

She’s also hiked to the top of Giant’s Head Mountain in the Okanagan Valley in Canada and, in Palm Springs, California, she’s trekked the hiking trails along San Jacinto Mountain and hiked through the rattlesnake infested Tahquitz Canyon.

Look out for more of Delores’s interests coming soon.
